Hannah's Tables

My sister has been looking for a coffee table for her apartment for over a year. She's like me a little bit in that she is picky enough to do without, rather than settle on something that she doesn't love. I found two mid-century end tables at a garage sale a couple of months ago. There was a little boy "helping" out at the sale and when I asked how much the tables were he excitedly yelled "twenty dollars!". I could tell the mom wasn't thrilled with his assessment of the worth of these tables, but I walked away with a pretty good deal! I thought that putting these two tables side by side would make a unique coffee table and my sister agreed. So, we began sanding, spraying paint, resanding, buying more paint, etc. etc. until we got to an antiqued look that I think we are both happy with. Here is the before and after!

I heart the zoo.

Animals are neat, but my favorite part of the zoo is the nature. Look at those buds... gorgeous!

I heart procrastinating.

I just looked at the date of my first post. Almost one year ago. I have posted about 7 whole entries since then. Yet, many minutes of each day are taken up with my thoughts on blogging, how I will blog, what I will blog about, what my blog will look like, how I will learn to blog better. I am sick.

Biggest Loser theology

Trainer extraordinaire Jilian Michaels said the following to a Biggest Loser contestant last night: "Pain is fear leaving the body". Not sure how biblically accurate that might be but it raised a good point to me that fear and pain are definitely related in some way. Made me think. Thanks Jilian! Now will you come train me?

Day Off Blues

Grace is grounded this week. No need for details, but suffice it to say playing is still more fun than chores and homework! You gotta hate it when a day off for teacher in-service falls on a grounded week! As she was half asleep and I was telling her good-bye before I left for work, I reminded her that she couldn't play with the neighborhood kids today. Then I asked her to call me when she was fully awake and I would give her "some things to do". We all know that meant chores. I have to hand it to her... she laughed instead of grumbling and said "Like that is going to make me feel better about being grounded?!" Smart girl.
